Snapchat launched its paid subscription plan in June, allowing users to pay $3.99 a month for more advanced features (like changing the style of their app icon and seeing who’s viewed their content).
Snap announced today that it’s introducing Snapchat for Web to let users send snaps and chat with friends via video calls, all from their desktops.
Initially the browser version is only available to Snapchat+ subscribers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The company plans to roll out Snapchat for Web to Snapchat+ subscribers in France, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, before making it accessible to all users around the world.
To access the web version of Snapchat you need to open your laptop and head to web.snapchat.com using Chrome.
With the launch of Snapchat for Web and Snapchat+, the company wants to monetize its 332 million daily active users as much as possible. For years the social media platform has been looking to better compete with TikTok, Instagram, Discord and WhatsApp.
