The previous most-liked Instagram post featured a photo of an egg. The picture was uploaded in January 2019 by Chris Godfrey as a social experiment. The post included the message “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this.” 9 days after is was published, the post had broken Kylie Jenner's record for most-liked photo. At time of writing, it has around 55 million likes.
Messi's post currently has been liked by more than 70 million users. “Thank you so much to my family, to all who support me and also to all who believed in us.
