Starting January 1, WhatsApp will no longer work on some devices.
iPhone users will need to be using iOS 12 or later to continue using Meta's instant messaging platform. WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with iOS 10 and iOS 11. Specifically, the smartphones that will no longer be supported by WhatsApp are iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C (they cannot be updated beyond iOS 11).
WhatsApp also released a list of 47 smartphones (Android 4.1 and newer) that will no longer get support after December 31, 2022: Archos 53 Platinum, Grand S Flex, ZTE Grand X, Quad V987 ZTE, HTC Desire 500, Huawei Ascend D, Ascend D1, Ascend D2, Huawei Ascend G740, Ascend Mate, Huawei Ascend P1, Quad XL, Lenovo A820, LG Enact, Lucid 2, LG Optimus 4X HD, LG Optimus F3, Optimus F3Q, LG Optimus F5, Optimus F6, LG Optimus F7, Optimus L2 II, LG Optimus L3 II, Optimus L3 II Dual, LG Optimus L4 II, Optimus L4 II Dual, Optimus L5, LG Optimus L5 Dual, Optimus L5 II, Optimus L7, LG Optimus L7 II, Optimus L7 II Dual, Optimus Nitro HD, Memo ZTE V956, Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy Trend II, Galaxy Trend Lite, Galaxy Xcover 2, Sony Xperia Arc S, Xperia miro, Xperia Neo L, Wiko Cink Five and Wiko Darknight ZT.
