Two years ago, WhatsApp introduced "disappearing messages", allowing users to set messages to disappear 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days after the time they are sent.

Since last year you can also send a photo or video that disappear from the chat after they've been opened.

According to WABetaInfo, the messaging service is almost ready to introduce the "View Once" feature to text messages. Messages will be deleted immediately after being viewed.

The new feature is already available in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.25.13 update. It is still under development and it is not possible to predict how long it will be before it is made public.
