Bill Gates shared his old typed resume from 1974 on LinkedIn.
“Whether you’re a recent grad or a college dropout, I’m sure your resume looks a lot better than mine did 48 years ago” wrote in the caption accompanying the image.
The document contains several interesting pieces of information. Bill Gates was 5-foot-10-inches tall (about 1.78 meters) and weighed 130 pounds (about 59 kilograms) at 18 years old. He was a freshman at Harvard College and lived with his parents in the Seattle lakeside neighborhood of Laurelhurst (the house was sold a year ago for $2.6 million).
Bill Gates mentioned his experience in programming languages (FORTRAN, COBOL, ALGOL, BASIC) and stated that he has experience as a systems programmer with TRW Systems Group in 1973. He also co-led a project to schedule private high schools (earning at least $10,000) and designed a system for traffic engineers to study traffic flow in collaboration with Paul G. Allen, with whom he founded Microsoft in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1975.
Bill Gates was asking for an annual salary of $12,000. "A $12,000 salary 48 years ago would have been amazing for a recent graduate, you always did well, Bill Gates," wrote one user.
Bill Gates has an estimated net worth of $129 billion and is currently the fourth-richest person in the world.
