The introduction of Premium "will allow Telegram to offer all the resource-heavy features users have asked for over the years, while preserving free access to the most powerful messenger on the planet", wrote the company in a blog post.
By subscribing to Telegram Premium, users unlock doubled limits, 4 GB file uploads, faster downloads, exclusive stickers, reactions, improved chat management, and a whole lot more.
All existing features remain free. Non-premium users will be able to enjoy some of Premium's benefits: for example, download the extra-large documents and view stickers sent by premium users, as well as tap to increase counters on premium reactions that were already added to a message.
To get the new Telegram Premium subscription, you need to download the latest version (8.8) of the app. It's already available on the App Store, but Android users may have to wait a bit longer for the update (the Telegram app on the Play Store is still stuck on version 8.7.4).
