TRANSFER CHATS TO IPHONE

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.9.19 update, we announced something new released to some beta testers: a chat transfer feature. With this feature, users can migrate their chat history to another Android device without using Google Drive. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.72 update released on the TestFlight app, we discovered that a similar feature is available for some beta testers, bringing the best migration experience to the app:

As you can see in this screenshot, a new option called “Transfer Chats to iPhone” is available right within WhatsApp Settings > Chats. Similar to the chat transfer feature available on WhatsApp beta for Android, the ability to transfer chats to iPhone helps users migrate their chat history to another iPhone without relying on an iCloud backup. Users need to download WhatsApp on their new phone, register with the same phone number, and use the old device to scan the QR code shown on the new phone to transfer their chat history.

In our opinion, this feature has a significant advantage because it provides an efficient way for users to transfer their chat history and media files from one device to another without relying on iCloud. This is helpful when their chat history cannot be saved to iCloud due to the 5GB free storage limit, and users don’t want to upgrade their iCloud storage by paying a certain subscription. With this feature, users can easily transfer their chat history and media files to a new iPhone, even if they have exceeded their iCloud storage: this feature doesn’t rely on iCloud but it transfers the chat history privately using a built-in feature.

The feature that allows users to transfer their chats to a different iPhone is available to some beta testers that install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming days.
