CHAT TRANSFER

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.1.25 update, we announced that WhatsApp was developing a new feature to improve how chats are migrated to other phones: a chat transfer option. With the chat transfer option, users won’t need to back up their chat history to Google Drive in case they want to migrate their account to a new Android device. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.9.19 update available on the Google Play Store, WhatsApp is now rolling out this feature to some lucky beta testers:

As you can see in this screenshot, the chat transfer option is available within WhatsApp Settings > Chats and it allows users to migrate their chat history to a new Android device. After selecting this option, we have to scan the provided QR code to initiate the process to migrate our chat history to the new Android device.

In our opinion, this feature provides users with an efficient and convenient migration experience: this feature eliminates the need to perform a manual backup of the chat history to Google Drive, which can be a time-consuming process, especially if the chat history is large. By scanning the QR code, users can easily transfer their chat history from their old Android device to a new Android device without having to go through the backup and restore process as the migration is automatic.

In case this feature is not available for your WhatsApp account, there is nothing wrong with your device: WhatsApp often releases new features gradually to a limited number of beta testers before making them available to everyone. This approach helps WhatsApp to identify and fix any issues or bugs with the feature before it is widely released.

The chat transfer feature is available for some beta testers that install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming week.
